The Childnet Academy is a unique competition for young people who are developing internet projects or exciting online ideas to benefit other children. Run by children’s charity Childnet this International project has been run for the last 8 years and helped inspire young people all around the world to use the internet for good.
Over the last 8 years Award ceremonies have been held in London, Sydney, Barbados, Washington, Paris. The 2005 competition culminated in a week-long Academy held in Jamaica where winners and local young people received specialist web support, leadership training and technical advice. Winners also received a grant from the Academy’s £30,000 web development fund.
During the 2005 Academy Childnet also held an international conference in Jamaica. Click here to find out more about the conference and the 2005 Academy.
Unfortunately Childnet is not able to extend the Academy programme for 2006 but hopes that it will be possible to develop a new programme in coming years. In the meantime we hope that visitors will visit the previous winning projects and be inspired by the wonderful work been done by young people from all over the world who are committed to using the internet for good.
